We offer our team broad experience and capabilities to produce recombinant, animal-free proteins for any life sciences need: cytokines, growth factors, antigens, allergens and polyclonal antibodies, for research, cell culture, and diagnostics.

Our manufacturing facility can handle large-scale production.

The recombinant proteins are purified by proprietary chromatographic procedures, developed after years of research, to maintain protein quality, properties and bioactivity. After a FPLC (Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography) phase, the product gets purity over 95%.

Proteins are then long-term stabilized by lyophilization at-50ºC (Freeze-Drying Technology) and its biological activity tested in vitro in cell lines. An example of antigens useful in serological diagnosis using plants as biofactories is the mass production of different SARS CoV-2 derived proteins, such as nucleoprotein (N) or RBD domain, in Nicotiana benthamiana plants.

The recombinant N protein obtained was validated in an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for detection of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in human sera. This study proved that the N protein derived from SARSCoV-2 expressed in plants performed as a perfectly valid antigen for use in COVID-19 diagnosis. This platform stands out as a convenient and advantageous production system, fit-for-purpose to cope with the demand of high-quality reagents in a fast and cost-effective manner, making diagnostic kits more affordable.
