Recombinant Porcine Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (pLIF)

Details

Catalog number: CM0007

Format: 50ug, 100 ug, 500 ug

Origin: It is produced by transient expression in non-transgenic plants and purified by sequential chromatography steps. This product contains no animal–derived components or impurities.

Description: Recombinant porcine LIF is a highly and variably glycosylated 20.5 kDa protein. It is a monomeric, pleiotropic cytokine in the IL-6 family of helical cytokines. Mature porcine LIF (180 aa) shares 88% aa sequence identity with bovine LIF. The LIF receptor is a heterodimer of a type I transmembrane ligand-binding subunit, LIFR (gp190), and the type I transmembrane signal transducing subunit, gp130, signaling especially through STAT3 and JAK kinases. Gp130 and members of the LIFR family also mediate the biological effects of Oncostatin M, Cardiotrophin-1, Galectin-10, CNTF, IL-6, IL-11, and IL-27. Depending on the cells and their context, LIF either opposes or favors differentiation. Recombinant protein is commonly used in cell culture to maintein the plurypotency of stem cells. LIF produced by the uterine endometrium supports successful implantation of the embryo, promotes proliferation and maintenance of pluripotency in embryonic stem cells, and favors proliferation of progenitor cell types such as hematopoietic stem cells. However, excess LIF blocks differentiation of embryoid bodies, indicating the importance of LIF regulation.

Species: Porcine

Purity: > 95% by SDS-PAGE gel

Endotoxin: < 0.05 EU / μg protein (LAL method)

Formulation: Formulated from Phosphate Potassium buffer pH 7.5 and NaCl. Sterile filtered through a 0.22µm filter.

Reconstitution: Lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in water following instructions of Certificate of Analysis (CoA). At higher concentrations solubility may be reduced and multimers generated. Optimal concentration should be determined for specific application and /or assay

Storage and Stability: The lyophilized product is stable between 2-8ºC. Once reconstituted, use immediately or store in aliquots at -20ºC (maximum shelf life 3 months). Avoid thawing and freezing.
