Description: Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is a multipotent growth factor involved in the growth, development and regulation of homeostasis in different tissue. Human insulin-like growth factor 1 Ec (IGF-1Ec), also called mechano growth factor (MGF), is a splice variant of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), which has been shown in vitro as well as in vivo to induce growth and hypertrophy in mechanically stimulated or damaged muscle. After muscle damage, the myofibers, are undergo to a complex reconstruction and regeneration process, involved coordinated activation, proliferation, migration and differentiation of muscle progenitor cells to generate new myofibers. IGF-1Ec results from alternative splicing of exons 4-5-6 and its expression is especially upregulated after injury in skeletal muscle. This isoform could be plays an active role in muscle cell proliferation and migration. Apparently, these functions could be supported by different parts of the molecule. The n- terminal sequence of IGF1, mostly contributes to cell proliferation and the c-terminal sequence could be induce cell migration and differentiation. It has been seen to promote the regeneration of the pool of stem cells such as mesenchymal cells, and could be a good candidate as a supplement to fetal-free serums in cell cultures.
Species: Human/porcine/bovine
Purity: > 95% by SDS-PAGE gel
Endotoxin: < 0.05 EU / μg protein (LAL method)
Formulation: Lyophilized from a Tris HCl buffer , NaCl and Urea, at pH 8. Sterile filtered through 0.2 µm filter.
Reconstitution: Lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in water following instructions of Certificate of Analysis (CoA). At higher concentrations solubility may be reduced and multimers generated. Optimal concentration should be determined for specific application and /or assay
Storage and Stability: The lyophilized product is stable between 2-8ºC. Once reconstituted, use immediately or store in aliquots at -20ºC (maximum shelf life 3 months). Avoid thawing and freezing.
