Details

Catalog number: CM0027

Format: 50ug, 200ug, 500 ug, 1.000ug

Origin: It is produced by transient expression in non-transgenic plants and purified by sequential chromatography steps. This product contains no animal–derived components or impurities.

Description: Bovine IL-12p40, also known as Interleukin-12 subunit beta, IL-12B and Natural Killer Cell Stimulatory Factor 2, is a subunit of interleukin 12 (IL-12), a cytokine that has a broad range of biological activities in the immune system. IL 12p40 can act as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhance the lytic activity of NK/lymphokine-activated killer cells, and stimulate the production of IFN-gamma by resting PBMC. Interleukin 12 is a disulfide-linked heterodimer composed of the 40 kDa cytokine receptor like subunit and a 35 kDa subunit. Il12p40 is expressed by activated macrophages that serve as an essential inducer of Th1 cells development and it can exist as a monomer and as a homodimer (IL-12 p80). In addition, the p40 subunit heterodimerizes with IL 12 p35 or IL-23 p19 subunits to form IL-12 or IL-23. Associates with IL23A to form the IL-23 interleukin, participates in innate and adaptive immunity. IL-23 may constitute with IL-17 an acute response to infection in peripheral tissues. IL-23 binds to a heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL12RB1 and IL23R, activates the Jak-Stat signaling cascade, stimulates memory rather than naive T-cells and promotes production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The IL-12(p40) subunit specifically inhibits IL-12 dependent cellular responses.

Species: Bovine

Purity: > 95% by SDS-PAGE gel

Endotoxin: < 0.05 EU / μg protein (LAL method)

Formulation: Formulated from Phosphate Potassium buffer pH 7.5 and NaCl. Sterile filtered through a 0.22µm filter.

Reconstitution: Lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in water following instructions of Certificate of Analysis (CoA). At higher concentrations solubility may be reduced and multimers generated. Optimal concentration should be determined for specific application and /or assay

Storage and Stability: The lyophilized product is stable between 2-8ºC. Once reconstituted, use immediately or store in aliquots at -20ºC (maximum shelf life 3 months). Avoid thawing and freezing.
